2. The skills related to experimentation, teamwork, open-ended problem solving, critical thinking, and life-long learning.
3. The communication skills, English and Arabic, and awareness of professional ethics and safety practices
4. Understanding of environmental, societal, and economic aspects of the profession
5. Ability to practice academic principles in industry

Strategy

The strategy of the Department of Chemical Engineering to achieve its objectives is to
1. Continually improve and update the quality of the chemical engineering curriculum.
2. Adopt and apply advances in educational technologies to improve teaching and the learning environment.
3. Acquire modern computerized laboratory experiments to update our laboratory program in chemical engineering.
4. Attract and retain high quality faculty and support staff.

Long-Range Goals

Over the coming two years, the Department of Chemical Engineering has a unique opportunity to achieve its vision through the attainment of the following goal:

Overall Program

• Sustain top ranking among Chemical Engineering Departments.
• Grow the Chemical Engineering Department to at least 20 full-time, research-active faculty with improved diversity
• Establish stronger industrial interactions, especially with companies in the Amman area.
• Improve infrastructure and facilities to promote scholarly research

Graduate Program

• Establish a graduate program
• Improve the quality of incoming graduate students.
• Establish a research center of excellence in energy that involves at least three chemical engineering faculty members. This center should attract major funding from industrial and governmental sources. The center will be considered a key to enhancing the external visibility and reputation of the Department.
• Through research partnerships and programs, take full advantage of the unique geographical location that the Department enjoys as a result of its proximity to the chemical, energy, and medical industries.
